What the heck is a cinemagraph?

I came across some image files on this site and instantly fell in love with the effect.
I had done some similar work with animated gifs some years ago, but these are a whole different level.

They really aren’t that hard to create, technically speaking. Aesthetically, they are a little tougher.
if a picture is worth a thousand words. A picture with motion, is a million.

I spent an early afternoon wandering around my home town collecting images. By late afternoon I was in my coffee shop hangout , other wise known as “the office” piecing this together.

I made this one this afternoon in downtown of my home town.

A little experimentation should great results.  My mind reels of the application of this to design, specifically to be used in epubs. What do you think? Want to see more?
